
April 21, 2025 (Oakville, ON) – The CAN Health Network is excited to announce its partnership with EmergConnect, a Canadian leader in emergency communication technology. EmergConnect’s innovative solution is the first-ever centralized digital platform for patient registration, self-assessment, individualized wait time predictions and ideal care environment redirection.
EmergConnect is a simple mobile app that aims to redefine the emergency room (ER) as a digital ‘front door’ for patients seeking same day care. The mobile platform allows patients to register, triage, and get an individualized prediction of their wait time in ERs. Once a patient puts in their symptoms, they can see which care providers are relevant to them, if they are considered a low acuity patient, or if they are better suited to see alternative care providers. The app can be accessed by patients at home, in the ER, or in a virtual care setting.
EmergConnect’s platform allows for seamless communication between emergency responders and healthcare providers, enabling medical data to be shared instantly, allowing for quicker diagnosis and more informed decision-making. The solution empowers EMS (emergency medical services) teams with critical patient information before they arrive on the scene, ensuring more effective interventions and a smoother transition of care once patients reach health care facilities.
Backed by cutting-edge artificial intelligence, EmergConnect changes same-day care in four key ways: improving patient satisfaction, reducing clinician burnout, improving system efficiency, and reducing cost of care.
Through its partnership with the CAN Health Network, EmergConnect is collaborating with Brightshores Health System and West Haldimand General Hospital—both serving rural regions with large Indigenous communities—to reduce ER wait times, improve triage assessment efficiency, enhance the patient experience, and ease the administrative burden on nurses. This project plays a key role in improving access to emergency care in underserved regions where timely and efficient services are especially critical.
