May 21, 2025 (Oakville, ON) – The Coordinated Accessible National (CAN) Health Network is pleased to announce its newest partnership with West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH), a vital community hospital serving the residents of Haldimand County and surrounding rural and Indigenous communities in Ontario. This partnership will foster innovation that improves access and quality of care in rural areas.
The CAN Health Network is a national partnership comprised of leading health care organizations, referred to as Edges, across Canada. With a mission to drive economic prosperity and create better health for all, CAN Health introduces homegrown Canadian solutions into the health care system, helping businesses scale across Canada and beyond.
“At West Haldimand General Hospital, we are committed to delivering safe, high-quality care close to home,” said Kim Mullins, Vice-President Clinical and Chief Nursing Executive, West Haldimand General Hospital. “Joining the CAN Health Network allows us to explore innovative solutions tailored to the needs of our rural population and ensure sustainable, community-based health care.”
WHGH is known for its patient-centered approach, strong community connections, and its role in providing essential health services in a rural setting. By embracing innovation, the hospital aims to enhance care delivery and address the unique challenges faced by rural health systems.
The partnership between WHGH and CAN Health reflects a shared vision: leveraging research, technology, and collaboration to improve access to care, drive better health outcomes, and support the well-being of all communities—no matter their size or location.
“We are thrilled to welcome West Haldimand General Hospital to the CAN Health Network,” said Dr. Dante Morra, Founder and Chair, CAN Health Network. “This collaboration will not only accelerate the adoption of Canadian innovations but also bring forward solutions that address the specific needs of rural populations.”
As an Edge, WHGH will work closely with CAN Health to identify priority challenges within its operations. The Network will then match WHGH with leading, market-ready Canadian companies to co-develop and implement cutting-edge solutions. This process allows WHGH to quickly adopt and test new technologies, while creating meaningful procurement opportunities for Canadian innovators.
