October 16, 2024 (Oakville, ON) – The Coordinated Accessible National (CAN) Health Network is pleased to announce its partnership with Atlantic Institute for Resilience (AIR) – a Canadian tech company dedicated to empowering health care workers with tools to enhance workplace resilience.

According to a 2021 study by Statistics Canada, one-third of health care workers reported struggling with their mental health during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the post-pandemic landscape, high levels of stress, burnout, turnover, and disability costs continue to plague the health care sector.

AIR leverages its transformational digital skill-building software – known as the Brain Gym – to assess and strengthen employee resilience. This software is designed to help employees and organizations take a proactive approach to mental health, enabling individuals to manage their well-being before challenges escalate into more severe mental health issues. Employees may use the Brain Gym on their own, or with the support of a resilience coach.

AIR’s evidence-based solutions are designed by psychiatrist and founder Dr. Jackie Kinley. Dr. Kinley observed that when workers are not properly resourced to cope with the stress inherent in work demands, they are at greater risk of psychological illness and injury, affecting their ability to stay at work or return to work successfully. AIR solutions have shown impressive results across various industries, including improvements in psychological safety, and reductions in stress and burnout.

Through this new partnership with the CAN Health Network, AIR will further its impact by collaborating with key health organizations across Canada. One of the first initiatives under this partnership is a commercialization project with Shannex, a leading provider of living options for older adults. This project aims to demonstrate that digital resilience training can increase psychological strength and mental fitness in employees who are currently on leave and those who may be at risk. Shannex will leverage AIR’s eMpower Program and Involve Program, which offers positive, proactive programming to ensure team members have the tools they need to address health concerns quickly and effectively.
