November 5, 2025 (Oakville, ON) – The CAN Health Network is proud to welcome SapienSecure, a Canadian AI-powered, health technology company transforming radiology operations in hospitals, to its network of innovative companies improving care delivery across the country.

SapienSecure’s product, Sapien Requisition Management, is a suite of tools designed to support AI-powered requisition processing. They include tools for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and intelligent document processing and for automatic protocolling.

Each year, thousands of hospital outpatients rely on medical imaging services. Yet, these critical procedures are often prioritized using manual, inconsistent methods – leading to site-level variability, scheduling delays, and postponed diagnoses.

By leveraging advanced machine learning and natural language processing, Sapien Requisition Management – Automatic Protocolling classifies requisition by protocol. The system aims to minimize misclassifications, shorten triage turnaround times, and ensure urgent cases are identified and scheduled promptly – all while maintaining full traceability through audit logs and enabling continuous quality improvement.

As part of the CAN Health Network, SapienSecure will be working with Vancouver Coastal Health to validate its Ultrasound Priority and Protocol Assignment tool. This project aims to create consistency and efficiency in how ultrasound requisitions are prioritized in a clinical environment.

Through this project, SapienSecure is not only addressing a local bottleneck but also helping define a scalable model for medical imaging automation across Canada – ultimately improving patient care, reducing unnecessary triaging delays, and unlocking valuable health system efficiencies.
