An Edge member within our network is seeking a solution to improve their resident care experience and promote resident autonomy by undergoing a digital transition. Currently, most of the documentation at the senior living organization remains paper-based, hindering efficiency, the ability for real-time tracking, and rapid response to resident needs. They are looking for a digital technology that empowers operational staff to create personalized care plans using dashboards and analytics, increase uptake of resident participation in activities, reduce the use of emergency services, and help residents retain autonomy in their care journey.

Our member is posting this Call for Innovation to seek out qualified Canadian companies who can meet the desired outcomes. The member and CAN Health reserves the right to not move forward with this project at its full discretion and in particular if there are no qualified Canadian companies that can reasonably meet the desired outcomes.

To qualify for a CAN Health project, the company must have its headquarter in Canada and/or the majority (>50%) of the company owned by Canadians and/or significant economic impact to Canada including a high Canadian job creation potential, >70% of contract value to Canada (for distributors of a non-Canadian solution), independent autonomy over business operations and product development (for subsidiaries, affiliates or distributors), current presence (office(s) and client(s)) and can benefit from the CAN Health Network. Priority will be given to companies that meet all eligibility criteria.

Background and context

This organization focuses on providing retirement residences for seniors. Currently, most of the documentation remains paper-based, hindering efficiency, the ability for real-time tracking, and rapid response to resident needs.

The lack of a more efficient system within the organization impedes their ability to:

  1. Monitor activities of Resident Attendants and services received by residents in real-time.
  2. Generate timely alerts and notifications for the operations team.
  3. Recognize and act on trends in resident requirements and operational improvement opportunities.
  4. Create a more personalized experience for residents.

A technological upgrade could streamline the member’s current operations and processes, and ensure that care interventions are timely, personalized and efficient. Digital data capture could empower the member’s operations team to have ongoing monitoring, instant notifications, and conduct prompt escalations when necessary. This will ensure that residents receive and experience the best care possible.
