June 4, 2024 (Markham, ON) – SE Health, through its membership with the Coordinated Accessible National (CAN) Health Network, is partnering with Canadian technology company, Welbi, to address social isolation in senior living communities through personalized recreation programming.

Isolation across senior living communities is a concern that was worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Research has shown that prolonged isolation can have detrimental effects on mental and physical health, including increased risk of depression, cognitive decline, and other chronic conditions.

As a leader in senior care with a commitment to innovation and digital transformation, SE Health is partnering with Welbi – an activities management software platform – to streamline and personalize the recreational planning process that will improve resident experience.

“We are thrilled to partner with Welbi to address the critical issue of social isolation among older adults,” said Nancy Lefebre, SVP and Chief Operating Officer of SE Health. “By combining our expertise in compassionate care with Welbi’s innovative technology, we can personalize programs and empower older adults to live life to the fullest, maintaining meaningful connections and enjoying fulfilling recreational activities.”

Founded in 2016, Welbi was built to empower life enrichment professionals by digitizing and modernizing recreation programming. From calendar planning to insights, analytics and assessments, Welbi streamlines operations so that staff can spend less time behind computer screens, and more time with residents delivering person-centered care.

With Welbi, seniors have access to personalized recreational activities based on their interests, preferences, and abilities, enabling them to stay engaged and connected within their communities.

“We are excited to collaborate with SE Health to enhance the well-being of seniors across Canada,” said Elizabeth Audette-Bourdeau, CEO and Co-founder of Welbi. “Together, we can leverage the power of technology to combat isolation, foster social engagement, and promote health and wellness among seniors.”

SE Health is implementing Welbi’s solution across two of its senior living sites as part of a CAN Health Network commercialization project.

“SE Health and Welbi’s partnership marks a significant step forward in addressing the complex challenges facing seniors today,” said Dr. Dante Morra, Founder and Chair, CAN Health Network. “By prioritizing social connection, engagement, and personalized care, this collaboration aims to empower seniors, while also streamlining the planning process for life enrichment teams.”

“The CAN Health Network continues to successfully create partnerships that are producing meaningful results for patients and health care networks across the country,” said the Honourable Rechie Valdez, Minister of Small Business. “The partnership between SE Health and Welbi is addressing one of the biggest issues facing seniors today: social isolation. By digitizing recreational activity programming, Welbi is personalizing activities for residents in senior living communities and helping them remain engaged and connected. Congratulations to both Welbi and SE Health.”
