January 8, 2026 (Oakville, ON) – The CAN Health Network is proud to welcome Skylink IoT Solutions, a Canadian IoT (Internet of Things) solutions provider for hospitals and healthcare systems specializing in low-power, cost-effective connectivity.
Skylink’s product, Trackmate for Hospitals, is a real-time location system (RTLS) designed to help hospital staff quickly locate and manage medical equipment, including IV pumps, bladder scanners, ultrasound machines, mobility aids, and other reusable devices.
In many hospitals, locating equipment is a daily challenge for frontline staff, biomedical engineers and support services. Lost or misplaced devices lead to delays in patient care, redundant equipment purchases, and unnecessary costs, while staff spend significant time searching for critical equipment.
Trackmate addresses these challenges by providing real-time visibility of equipment locations, how they are being used, geofencing alerts for high-risk areas, and actionable data to optimize utilization and reduce losses. By enabling staff to locate and share devices efficiently, the system helps reduce overhead pages, prevent equipment loss, and improve staff safety and patient care.
As part of the CAN Health Network, Skylink IoT Solutions is working directly with Waterloo Region Health Network (WRHN) to evaluate Trackmate’s impact on equipment management across multiple hospital sites. The project aims to reduce equipment loss, improve utilization, and save time for staff, while generating scalable insights for wider adoption across Canadian health systems.
Through this project, Skylink IoT Solutions is not only addressing a local operational challenge but also helping define a model for smart, connected hospital operations nationwide – ultimately improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing patient care.
