December 2, 2024 (Oakville, ON) – The Coordinated Accessible National (CAN) Health Network is excited to welcome FluidAI, a Canadian MedTech company focused on harnessing the power of AI to deliver a new standard of predictive and proactive postoperative care.
A key challenge following abdominal surgery is the early detection of anastomotic leaks—a serious complication that occurs when the surgical connection breaks down. These leaks are often difficult to detect, typically taking more than eight days to diagnose, which increases the risk of severe complications for patients.
FluidAI’s Stream™ Platform offers a breakthrough solution by continuously and non-invasively analyzing postoperative wound drainage. Utilizing advanced AI technology, the platform provides real-time data insights and early warnings, allowing health care teams to detect potential complications before symptoms appear.
With Stream™ Platform, early detection and intervention can occur in as little as two days—significantly ahead of the usual timeline for diagnosing anastomotic leaks. Additionally, healthy patients found not to have a leak may be discharged sooner.
Through a CAN Health Network project, FluidAI will partner with Unity Health Toronto to integrate this solution into surgical care practices. This collaboration will provide Unity Health’s clinical teams with advanced insights to enhance decision-making, reduce complications, and improve the overall quality of care for post-surgical patients.
The CAN Health Network continues to support innovative Canadian companies like FluidAI, helping to integrate homegrown technologies into the health care system and drive better outcomes for patients. Postoperative monitoring is a widespread challenge in health care, and this partnership sets a new standard in AI-powered post-surgical care.
