November 26, 2024 (Oakville, ON) – The Coordinated Accessible National (CAN) Health Network is excited to announce its partnership with Tochtech Technologies – a leading Canadian technology company specializing in innovative solutions for senior care that provide caregivers peace of mind, while enabling seniors to live healthier and safer lives.
In Canadian long-term care (LTC) homes approximately 50% of all residents will fall each year, and of those who fall, 40% will fall two or more times. These incidents can result in not only serious injuries, but also significant financial costs with transfers to acute care, extended hospital stays, and substantial care team resources. Tochtech’s Toch Sleepsense technology has been proven to be effective in reducing falls and is an innovative solution that allows staff to monitor resident safety and provide a more efficient delivery of personalized care.
Toch Sleepsense is a non-wearable, non-contact sleep sensor that fits discreetly under one leg or wheel of a bed, providing essential sleep, movement and vital sign data, enhancing the safety and well-being of seniors by monitoring bed exits and sleep patterns, contributing to personalized and improved quality of care for residents in long-term care communities. Data gathered by the smart sensors is also available to families and caregivers, empowering them to stay connected and informed about their loved ones’ health and safety in real-time.
Through the CAN Health Network, Tochtech is partnering with Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia on a commercialization project designed to enhance resident safety and improve operational efficiency at three of its long-term care homes: Maplewood Care Society, Nicola Lodge and Czorny Alzheimer Centre.
