May 15, 2024 The Coordinated Accessible National (CAN) Health Network is excited to announce its partnership with Vena Medical™, an innovative Canadian company that is creating a suite of tools to change the way physicians perform minimally invasive neurosurgery.

Vena’s flagship product, the MicroAngioscope™, is the world’s smallest camera, which allows physicians to see inside veins and arteries, to help them treat stroke – the second leading cause of death in the world. This first-of-its-kind technology means that doctors can pinpoint the condition that led to the stroke, allowing for tailored treatment that can save more lives.

Vena also developed the Vena BDAC™ that combines Balloon Guide Catheters and Distal Access Catheters that are currently used in thrombectomy to remove clots from the brains of stroke victims. Combining these two devices allows the physician to get the balloon much closer to the clot, which is shown to significantly improve patient outcomes by allowing the removal of the clot on the first try.

“Vena Medical’s partnership with the CAN Health Network is a transformative step for Canadian healthcare, accelerating the adoption of our much-needed stroke care solutions,” said Adam Karamath, Head of Commercial Operations, Vena Medical. “This collaboration not only ensures swift access to critical treatments for patients but also positions our innovations on a global scale, addressing long-standing challenges in local medical technology adoption.”

Through its partnership with the CAN Health Network, Vena Medical will have the opportunity to work directly with some of Canada’s leading health care organizations and increase the potential to scale its solution across the Network and beyond.

“We are thrilled to welcome Vena Medical to the Network,” said Dr. Dante Morra, Founder and Chair, CAN Health Network. “This ground-breaking technology has the power to transform the way care is delivered and improve outcomes for stroke patients. We are excited to support the growth of this innovative Canadian solution.”
